Odiel Van Den Meersschaut

Odiel Van Den Meersschaut (born December 25, 1919 in Melsen , † March 16, 1993 in Gent ) was a Belgian racing cyclist .

Odiel Van Den Meersschaut was a professional cyclist from 1938 to 1952. During this time he won around 60 “fair races” in Belgium; In 1940 he was Belgian road racing champion and vice-champion in 1945. In 1947 he was also third in the Belgian championship in cyclo-cross racing and in 1948 second.

Van den Meersschaut competed twelve times in six-day races in the early 1950s , and in 1950 he won the Munich race together with Camille Dekuysscher .

After the end of his cycling career, Odiel Van Den Meersschaut, known as “de Witte” because of his light hair color, opened a shop for electronic household goods in Ronse .
