Louis Roels

Louis "Lode" Roels (born August 12, 1912 in Hamme , † September 17, 1984 in Dendermonde ) was a Belgian cyclist .

In 1929 Louis Roels became Belgian junior road champion; In 1934 he won the title in the elite class. In 1934 he won the Ronde van Limburg race . He was registered by the association for the UCI road world championships in Leipzig in 1934 , but on the eve of the race he was kicked out in favor of 20-year-old Karel Kaers , who then became world champion. This process so offended Roels that he ended his professional career the following year, at the age of 23.

Roels married a wealthy woman and successfully started a flint company . Laitem / Hamels: "Zijn vorm van revanche" (Dutch = "His form of revenge").
