Francois Verstraeten

Francois Verstraeten (born March 23, 1887 in Etterbeek , † July 28, 1965 in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe ) was a Belgian cyclist .

In 1906 Francois Verstraeten finished third in the Tour of Belgium as an amateur . In 1906 he stepped at the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in a 20-kilometer track race behind Pacemaker , but was eliminated in a preliminary round. In 1907 and 1908 he was Belgian road racing champion, both times in Keumiée , a third victory in the championship in 1909 failed due to a flat tire.

In 1913 Verstraeten started the first tour of Flanders . The outbreak of the First World War ended his cycling career.
