Preben Van Hecke (born July 9, 1982 in Dendermonde ) is a Belgian cyclist .

Athletic career

Van Hecke began his international career in 2004 with the Spanish cycling team Relax-Fuenlabrada-Bodysol . That year he won a stage and the mountain classification at the Ster Elektrotoer and the one-day race Noord-Nederland Tour . In the years to come he drove for Belgian teams. He participated in the Vuelta a España in 2005 and the Giro d'Italia in 2006 , which finished as 83rd and 140th. He also won the one-day races Schaal Sels , Omloop van het Waasland , Antwerpse Havenpijl and Grand Prix de la Somme .

In 2015 Van Hecke became Belgian road champion.
