Etienne De Wilde (born March 25, 1958 in Wetteren ) is a former Belgian cyclist .

Etienne De Wilde worked as a professional racing driver from 1980 to 2001, mainly on the cycling track. He took part in a total of 197 six-day races, of which he won 38, 13 of them together with the German racing driver Andreas Kappes . He is 7th in the six-day ranking from the start.

In 1993 De Wilde was world champion in points racing , in 1998 together with Matthew Gilmore world champion in two-man team driving . At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he and Gilmore won the silver medal in two-man team driving .

Etienne De Wilde also achieved several successes in road races. In 1980 he won the Grand Prix d'Isbergues , 1983 Across Flanders , 1987 the Nokere Koerse and the Scheldeprijs , 1989 the Omloop Het Volk , the Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen and the Étoile de Bessèges and in 1990 the Grand Prix d'Ouverture La Marseillaise . Between 1988 and 1992 De Wilde took part in the Tour de France four times , always ending up in the back of the table, but being able to claim two stage wins.
