Wetteren is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region on the southern bank of the Scheldt . It is located in the province of East Flanders and belongs to the Arrondissement of Dendermonde .
Ghent is 11 kilometers to the west, Aalst 12 km to the south-east, Dendermonde 15 km to the east, Brussels 37 km to the south-east and Antwerp 42 km to the north-east (all information as the crow flies to the city centers).
The community has a motorway exit in the southwest on the A10 / E 40 . In Beervelde in the north on the A14 / E 17 and at Ghent there are further connection points.
Wetteren has a regional train station on the Ghent - Wetteren - Dendermonde - Mechelen and Gent - Wetteren - Aalst - Brussels lines.
There is an international airport near the capital, Brussels.
