Sint-Martens-Latem is a municipality with 8,392 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Belgian province of East Flanders .

The community is nicknamed "Artists Village" and is the cradle of Flemish Expressionism . The houses and villas in the suburb of Ghent are set amidst light forests.

The famous Latem school was named after the place. The landscape, characterized by river, forest and pastures, inspired the artists. Numerous painters, sculptors, writers, poets and musicians have settled on the banks of the Leie . Several museums (such as the Dhondt Dhaenens Museum ) and galleries attract numerous visitors.
