Wichelen is a municipality in the Denderstreek in the province of East Flanders in Belgium. It lies on the Scheldt and belongs to the Arrondissement of Dendermonde . Wichelen has 11,672 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and an area of ​​22.87 km². The community consists of the core town and the two districts Schellebelle and Serskamp . The Molenbeek runs through Schellebelle, Serskamp and Wichelen.

Wichelen has a regional train station in the Schellebelle district on the Gent-Wichelen-Aalst-Brussels and Gent-Wichelen-Dendermonde- Mechelen railway lines .
