Kruibeke is a municipality in the northeast of the Belgian province of East Flanders with 16,745 inhabitants ( as of January 1, 2019 ). The community area is 33.64 km².

Kruibeke is located between the Scheldt and the E17 motorway. The municipality borders on Beveren in the north, Zwijndrecht in the northeast and, across the Scheldt, on Hemiksem and Antwerp in the east, on the municipalities of Schelle and Bornem in the south and on Temse in the southwest.

In 1977 the community was formed from the previously independent parts of Kruibeke (6,862 inh., 1,454 ha), Bazel (4,967 in., 1,700 ha) and Rupelmonde ( 2,906 inh ., 188 ha). The Rupelmonde municipality is located directly on the banks of the Scheldt. Administratively, Kruibeke belongs to the Arrondissement of Sint-Niklaas .

A considerable part of the municipality consists of polders , which are protected from the influence of the Scheldt by a system of dikes. The settlement cores lie on a slightly higher clay ridge.
