Herzele is a Belgian municipality in the Denderstreek in the Flanders region with 18,027 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). The municipality has a total of eight sub-municipalities, Borsbeke , Herzele, Hillegem , Ressegem , Sint-Antelinks , Sint-Lievens-Esse , Steenhuize-Wijnhuize and Woubrechtegem .

The Molenbeek runs through Borsbeke, Herzele, Ressegem and Hillegem and the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek runs through Herzele, Sint-Lievens-Esse, Woubrechtegem and Ressegem.

Aalst is 11 kilometers northeast, Geraardsbergen 12 km south, Oudenaarde 19 km west, Ghent 20 km north-west and Brussels about 33 km east.

The next motorway exits are to the north at Erpe-Mere and Wetteren on the A10 / E 40 .
Herzele has a regional train station on the Kortrijk - Oudenaarde - Zottegem - Herzele - Aalst / Brussels line, and national express trains also stop in Ghent and Brussels.
The nearest international airport is located near the capital, Brussels.
