The Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek (popularly known as Molenbeek) is a brook in the Belgian province of East Flanders in the Denderstreek . The stream has a length of about 25 km. The source of the Molenbeek is in Godveerdegem and the confluence in Hofstade in the Dender . Not to be confused with the Molenbeek , which also flows through Erpe-Mere (and Herzele).
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Molenbeek is in the province of East Flanders and extends into the municipalities of Zottegem ( Godveerdegem , Erwetegem , Grotenberge ), Herzele (Herzele, Sint-Lievens-Esse , Woubrechtegem , Ressegem ), Haaltert ( Heldergem , Kerksken , Haaltert), Erpe-Mere ( Aaigem , Mere , Erpe ) en Aalst (Aalst, Hofstade ).
The Molenbeek is part of the Molenbeek Erpe-Mere catchment area. The catchment area of Molenbeek Erpe-Mere is part of the Dender catchment area. The catchment area of the Molenbeek has an area of about 5474. The Molenbeek flows into Hofstade im Dender.
From the source in Godveerdegem to the mouth in Hofstade, the Molenbeek has the following tributaries: Plankebeek, Meilegembeek, De Burg, 's Heerendijkbeek, Grep, Holbeek, Steenbeek and Zijpbeek.
Mills and water tower
- Due to the geographical situation, there are eight watermills in Erpe-Mere on the Molenbeek, six of them are also legally protected ( monument protection ). An unprotected mill was converted into a house.
- There is also a windmill on the Koudenberg , one of the highest hills in the municipality . It was reinstalled on its base in 2006 after being restored in 2004 by an atelier in Roeselare. The Kruiskoutermolen was completely restored in 2006 and is ready for use . It can be visited by making an appointment with the tourist service. The mill is a listed building.
