Zwalm is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region . It is located in the province of East Flanders in the Arrondissement of Oudenaarde .

The municipality emerged from the amalgamation of 13 localities and therefore has no real town center.

Zwalm is 7 kilometers northeast of Oudenaarde , 15 km northwest of Geraardsbergen , 18 km south of Ghent and 44 km west of Brussels (all data refer to the distance from the center of the municipality as the crow flies to the respective city centers).

The next motorway exits are a few kilometers north on the A10 / E 40 and A14 / E 17 motorways near the cities of Ghent and Deinze and the municipality of Wetteren .

The municipality itself has a train station in the Munkzwalm district on the Kortrijk - Oudenaarde - Zwalm - Zottegem - Brussels line . Ghent and Brussels are the closest train stations with international train connections such as u. a. the Thalys .
