Urs Freuler

Urs Freuler (born November 6, 1958 in Bilten , Canton Glarus ) is a Swiss cyclist and world champion in cycling .

He was able to win a total of 14 medals at the UCI track cycling world championships. Between 1981 and 1989 he was ten times world railroad champion in the Keirin and points race disciplines . In total, he won more than 70 street races . In 1984 he won the jersey of the best in points at the Giro d'Italia . He also won 21 six-day races and is 25th in the all-time ranking (as of 2009).

At the six-day race in Munich in 1990 , Freuler was disqualified for doping . After a race in Sindelfingen in 1991 he was banned for four months for taking amphetamines .

Urs Freuler is a trained car mechanic and owns a cycling boutique in Altendorf SZ . He is entitled to live in Glarus and Ennenda and lives in Bilten. He is co-organizer of the six-day race in Zurich.

Honors

In 1982 and 1983 Urs Freuler was voted Swiss Sportsman of the Year .
