Danny Clark had his first international success at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , when he won the silver medal in the 1000 m time trial on the track. After becoming Australian champion three times, he moved to the pros .
In the same year Clark won his first six-day race with Fred Atkins in Sydney . Then he moved to Europe, because there his professional prospects as a professional cyclist were much better. He lived in Belgium for many years .
With his compatriot Donald Allan he celebrated his first six-day victory in Europe at the Sixdays in Gent in the 1976/77 season ; together they achieved 15 successes in six-day races. With the British Tony Doyle he won another 19 six-day races. Clark started a total of 235 six-day races in his 23-year professional career and achieved 74 victories; so he is in the "eternal list" of six-day winners in second place behind Patrick Sercu .
