Six days of Ghent

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ghent Six Days Race takes place annually in Ghent ( Belgium ). It is in the velodrome Kuipke in Citadelpark aligned Ghent. The first event took place in 1922. The director of the Ghent six-day race is former professional cyclist, six-day racing driver and world record holder Patrick Sercu , who himself holds the record with eleven wins in Ghent. The 2006 event was overshadowed by the fall of the Spaniard Isaac Gálvez , who drove into the gang and was seriously injured. He died on the way to the hospital. At the 2014 event, a cat that suddenly ran across the velodrome caused a stir.
