Jasper De Buyst (born November 24, 1993 ) is a Belgian racing cyclist who is active on the road and track .

Career

In 2009 Jasper De Buyst was four times Belgian youth champion on the track, the following year he was junior champion in road racing and team pursuit. In 2011 he won seven national titles in the junior class: in the individual time trial on the road and in six disciplines on the track as well as Vice European Junior Champion in the Omnium .

In 2012, De Buyst and Gijs Van Hoecke won the silver medal in the two-man team driving at the European Track Championships (U23) and the bronze medal in the team pursuit with Van Hoecke, Moreno De Pauw and Joris Cornet ; In 2013 he became the U23 European champion in the Omnium. In 2014 he won two medals at the U23 European Championships, a bronze one in the points race and a silver one in the two-man team race together with Otto Vergaerde . The following year he and Vergaerde came third in the two-man team driving at the World Railroad Championships . Also in 2015, De Buyst started a Grand Tour , the Vuelta , for the first time and came in 126th overall.

In 2016 Jasper De Buyst was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He started in the Omnium, but was unable to continue the competition after the first day due to an illness.

In 2017 De Byust celebrated several victories on the road, such as the Heistse Pijl , the GP Stad Zottegem and Binche – Chimay – Binche , and he won a stage of the Tour de Wallonie . In 2019 he won a stage and the points evaluation of the. Denmark tour . In the same year he and Iljo Keisse decided the Bremen six-day race for themselves.
