Gramat is a French commune with 3528 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lot department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Gourdon and the Canton of Gramat , of which it is the capital.

The municipality is located around 25 kilometers east of Gourdon , in the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities to Gramat are:

Gramat is the eponymous site for the Causse de Gramat , a lime - plateau with distinctive karst formations . The place is located in the valley of the Alzou river , which seeps away about three kilometers below Gramat and only comes to light again as a karst spring west of Rocamadour .

The municipal area is accessed by the departmental roads D840 and D807, which intersect in the local area. The D840 runs from Figeac in a north-westerly direction via Gramat to Nespouls , where it reaches the A20 motorway . The D807 runs from Labastide-Murat in a north-east direction via Gramat to Saint-Céré . A railway line that runs from Figeac to Brive-la-Gaillarde also crosses the municipality and has a stop in Gramat.
