Rampoux ( Occitan : Rampons ) is a place and a municipality ( commune ) in the south of France with 98 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the old cultural landscape of the Quercy in the Lot department in the north of the Occitania region .
location
The place Rampoux is at an altitude of about 260 meters above sea level. d. M. and is approx. 18 kilometers (driving distance) in a south-westerly direction from the canton capital Gourdon . The partly abandoned hamlets of Bouscaillou, Colombier, Repayre and Salapès also belong to the municipality .

At the beginning of the 19th century the community had around 700 inhabitants; since then the population has been declining almost steadily.
economy
For centuries the population lived as a self-sufficiency from agriculture, which earlier - in addition to field and pasture farming - also included the cultivation of wine to a small extent. There are several holiday homes ( gîtes ) in and around the village .
history
In the Middle Ages, Rampoux belonged - probably as a priory - to the Saint-Pierre Abbey of Marcilhac-sur-Célé , located about 50 kilometers south-east .
Attractions
- The Peter the Apostle parish church dedicated to St. Peter in Chains is made of quarry stones erected extremely compact Romanesque construction of the 12th century, two to the 15th century chapels in Gothic style were added, making the church as a whole received a cross-shaped floor plan; at the same time the nave was vaulted. Apse and west facade with bell tower and accompanying stair tower are almost unadorned. The single nave nave has only two yokes . In the apse calotte there are remains of a representation of the Ascension of Christ in a mandorla ; the Gothic south chapel has ceiling frescoes with scenes of the Annunciation and the Passion of Christ . The church has been recognized as a monument historique since 1914 .
- On the outskirts there is a fenced livestock watering ( abreuvoir ) and a livestock crush ( travail ) for hoof care of working animals.
