Kenny De Ketele (born June 5, 1985 in Oudenaarde ) is a Belgian cyclist .
Athletic career
In 2003 Kenny De Ketele was two-time Belgian junior champion, in the points race and in the single pursuit . In 2004 he and his team-mate Iljo Keisse were U23 European champions in two-man team driving . At the Track Cycling World Cup in Moscow in 2006 he finished fifth in the Madison with his compatriot Keisse, who was De Ketele's standard partner during the Espoir period.
In 2011 De Ketele and Keisse became European champions in two-man team driving ; the following year he won the title of world champion in this discipline with Gijs Van Hoecke . In 2013 he won the bronze medal together with Van Hoecke at the European Railway Championships in Apeldoorn.
Kenny De Ketele started in over 30 six-day races in the course of his career . By 2013 he won four with different partners. In 2015, he and Moreno De Pauw won the first edition of the new six-day race in London . At the UCI Track World Championships 2017 he was runner-up in the points race, and together with Moreno De Pauw he won bronze in the two-man team race. In 2019 he finished third again in the two-man team at the World Track Championships, this time with Robbe Ghys . The two drivers also won the six-day races in Ghent together in 2019 . In January 2020 he won the six-day race in Bremen with Nils Politt .
Miscellaneous
In April 2017, during the World Railroad Championships in Hong Kong , De Ketele was elected to the UCI Athletes Commission together with Kristina Vogel .
From mid-2017 to the end of 2018, Kenny De Ketele was a temporary trainer for the Belgian cycling federation for young track riders in the endurance area; Nicky Cocquyt was his successor .
