Miguel Alzamora

Miguel Alzamora Riera (born February 17, 1974 in Artà ) is a former Spanish cyclist , world champion in two-man team driving (1997) and two-time Olympic athlete (2000, 2004).

Career

Miguel Alzamora grew up in Artà on the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca .
He became world champion in two-man team driving for the first time in 1997 at the track cycling world championships , together with his compatriot Joan Llaneras . In the 2000 season, Alzamora rode for a year for the Amica Chips-Tacconi Sport road cycling team . Three times he was Spanish champion on the track and won multiple races in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup .

Alzamora competed twice at the Olympic Games: in 2000 , he competed in the team pursuit and finished twelfth with Toni Tauler , Isaac Gálvez and José Francisco Jarque . At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , Greece , he finished sixth with Llaneras.

Today, Miguel Alzamora runs a bicycle shop in his hometown of Artà, is president of the Club Ciclista Artanenc and is involved in organizing cycling events. (As of 2016)
