Andreas Müller (born November 25, 1979 in Berlin , Germany ) is an Austrian track and road cyclist .
Athletic career
Andreas Müller has a German and an Austrian passport. Since 2008 he has been riding for the Austrian cycling association; before that he drove for Germany.
On the track, Müller became German champion in the team pursuit in 2000 . In the points race , he was national champion in 2001, 2002 and 2005. In the 2003 season, he and Guido Fulst won the Madison competitions at the World Cups in Moscow and Sydney . As an Austrian, he was national champion in points, Madison and Scratch in 2008 . At the 2009 World Track Cycling Championships in Pruszków , he won the bronze medal in scratch.
In 2001 Müller won a stage in the Berlin Tour on the road . In the 2006 season he was successful at the Buchholz Grand Prix. A year later he won the 15th stage of the International Cycling Classic.
After moving to Austria, Andreas Müller immediately became three-time Austrian champion on the track , in points, in scratch and in two-man team driving , together with Andreas Graf . He was able to repeat these successes in 2010. In 2013 he won the silver medal in scratch at the World Track Championships in Minsk ; In 2008 he had already won a bronze medal in this discipline . In the 2015 UEC European Track Championships in Switzerland Grenchen he finished fifth in the scratch, ranked sixth in the elimination races and together with Andreas Graf sixth in a two-team driving. After switching to the Hrinkow Advarics Cycleangteam in 2015 , he achieved his first win on the road in 14 years by winning a stage from An Post Rás .
At the 2017/18 Track Cycling World Cup , Müller and Andreas Graf won the overall standings in the two-man team. In January 2019, he contested his 100th six-day race in his hometown of Berlin and finished third with Graf.
Professional
In May 2017, Müller also took on the role of sporting director for the track team Elite / U23 of the Austrian cycling association .
