Nils Schomber (born March 15, 1994 in Neuss ) is a German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2011, Nils Schomber, who started for VfR Büttgen , became two-time German junior champion, in the single and team pursuit , together with Nils Politt , Stefan Schneider and Ruben Zepuntke . In April 2012 the then 18-year-old drove with 3: 18.766 min. a new German record in the 3000 meter single pursuit.

In 2012 Schomber became German junior champion in the individual time trial on the road as well as in the single pursuit and in the two-man team driving (with Nils Politt ) on the track. At the U23 European Rail Championships in 2012 in Anadia , Portugal , he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit together with Domenic Weinstein , Jonas Tenbrock and Leon Rohde , and silver in the single pursuit. In 2014 he became German champions in the team pursuit together with Kersten Thiele , Theo Reinhardt and Henning Bommel . At the European Rail Championships in the same year he was runner-up in the team pursuit with the same partners and was fourth in the single pursuit.

In 2015 the quartet Schomber, Bommel, Reinhardt and Weinstein won the national title in the team pursuit. In the following year he was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he finished fifth in the team pursuit together with Henning Bommel , Kersten Thiele , Domenic Weinstein and Theo Reinhardt . At the UCI-Bahn World Championships 2018 in Apeldoorn , the German four-man with Schomber set a new German record with 3: 56.594 minutes and finished fourth. As in the previous year , he finished third in the singles pursuit at the German track championships in 2019 .
