Heiko Szonn (born June 23, 1976 in Forst ) is a former German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1994 Heiko Szonn became vice world champion in the junior team pursuit , together with Lutz Birkenkamp, Ronny Lauke and Michael Werner. In 1996 he won the German championship in the single pursuit . In the same year he took third place in the team pursuit at the World Railroad Championships with the German team ( Guido Fulst , Danilo Hondo , Thorsten Rund ). Also in 1996 he started at the Olympic Games in Atlanta , finished sixth in the single pursuit and ninth in the team pursuit (with Robert Bartko , Fulst and Hondo). In 1998 he joined the professionals . In 2005 he ended his active cycling career.

doping

In 2002, after the fifth stage of the peace trip, Szonn was found to have increased ephedrine levels and was sentenced to a month's ban and a fine.
