Leon Raphael Rohde (born May 10, 1995 in Hamburg-Altona ) is a German cyclist .

Athletic career

Originally from Wedel , Rohde did cycling with RG Hamburg and moved to the Lausitzer Sportschule Cottbus at the age of 14 . A year later he was followed by his brother Louis.

In 2011, Leon Rohde was three-time German youth champion, in road racing , in team pursuit with the team of the Brandenburg State Association and in two-man team driving with Tristan Wedler. In the single pursuit , he finished third. At the U23 European Track Championships in 2012 in Anadia , Portugal , Leon Rohde won the bronze medal together with Domenic Weinstein , Jonas Tenbrock and Nils Schomber in the Velódromo Nacional . In the same year he became German junior champion in the omnium .

In 2013 Rohde won two national junior titles, in the single and in the team pursuit (with Jasper Frahm , Marcel Franz and Robert Kessler ). In the same year he finished third in the German championship of the elite in the Omnium . In 2014 he and Domenic Weinstein became European champion (U23) in two-man team driving and at the German track cycling championships in Cottbus, German champion in the elite points race. Together with Kersten Thiele , he won the two-man team event at the first run of the Track Cycling World Cup 2015/16 in Cali .

In 2018 Leon Rohde became German champion in scratch and in 2019 with Felix Groß , Theo Reinhardt and Nils Schomber in the team pursuit. Also in 2018 he won a stage of the Tour of Fuzhou . The German four in the crew Groß, Weinstein and Theo Reinhardt won the team pursuit at the World Cup in Hong Kong and set a new German record with 3: 51.165 minutes .
