Raphael Freienstein (born April 8, 1991 in Marburg ) is a German racing cyclist .

Career

Raphael Freienstein has been active as a cyclist since 2004, on the road , mountain bike and in cyclo-cross races . From 2012 he drove for various Continental teams with breaks . At the German road championships in 2012 , he finished ninth in the elite road race .

In 2016 Freienstein moved to Team Kuota . There he achieved his greatest international success in May 2016 when he won the second stage of the Flèche du Sud . In the overall ranking of the tour, he finally came in second.

In 2017 he won two German championship titles: in the team time trial of the German road championships and in the hill climb . He also won the overall ranking of the cycling Bundesliga in 2017 . He then ended his international career as an active player because he did not succeed in getting a contract with a WorldTeam or Professional Continental Team .

Freienstein then moved to Australia to complete his degree in International Management . In Victoria , he joined parallel to studying regional team Inform-Make Racing on for which he most significant Australian racing series National Road Series won and thus a starting place at UCI World Tour -race Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race secured.

Raphael Freienstein is the son of the former racing cyclist and current trainer Thomas Freienstein .
