Herbert Nebe (born May 11, 1899 in Leipzig , † October 13, 1985 in Gotha ) was a German racing cyclist .

1923 Herbert Nebe was together with his team from BRC Tornado Leipzig from Ernst Schugk , Rudolf Dost , Franz Rodies Hans Hundertmarck and Karl Seiferth German champion in the team time trial of the amateurs . In 1928 Herbert Nebe won the silver medal at the road world championships in Budapest , ahead of the second German Bruno Wolke . The 192 kilometer long course led through the Hungarian Puszta in great heat ; 16 drivers started, only eight reached the finish. The year before, Nebe had finished fifth at the first road world championships at the Nürburgring. In 1928 he also won Berlin – Cottbus – Berlin , the Bavarian Tour and came second in the German Road Championship. He also contested several six-day races, but without landing on the podium.

Nebe later reported about his experiences at the road world championship that he had been threatened by Fritz von Opel if he continued to drive because, from his point of view, he was not driving the right material, but diamond . The later world champion, the Belgian Georges Ronsse , on the other hand, drove the “right material”, an Opel bike with a torpedo freewheel hub . There was also the suspicion that Ronsse and his compatriot Jules Vanhevel had ridden in the Opel support vehicle or had attached themselves to the car (which could also explain the great lead). Because of these disputes, Nebe's contract with Diamant was not renewed in early 1929; later he received severance pay after a lawsuit.

In 1930 Nebe started in the Tour de France , but had to give up.

In the fall of 1946, a commission for professional cycling in the Soviet occupation zone was established, which was headed by him and the organizer Rolf Seyfarth .
