Kurschat (* 17th May 1975 in Werne ) is a German cyclist in the field of mountain biking .

Wolfram Kurschat lives in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . He has a girlfriend with whom he has three children and is a licensed pharmacist . He completed his pharmacy studies alongside his sports career and graduated in 2008. His club is MBC Bochum and his team has been Topeak Ergon since 2008 after he drove for Fuji . The first successes in the junior sector came at the beginning of the 1990s. In 1992 he won silver at the European Junior Championships and became a professional. 1997 won the U23 European Cup.

1998 Kurschat became German runner-up. The following year he won the title for the first time and achieved his breakthrough in the professional field. He also won the Bundesliga in 1999. He was able to win both titles again in 2007, for the second time each time. In 2004 he won silver in the German championships, in 2005 bronze and the runner-up title in the marathon competition. The best international result is sixth place at the 2007 European Championship in Turkey. In 2007 he was ranked 17th in the overall World Cup and 13th in the world rankings.

In the qualification for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games of Beijing reached Kurschat only half the norm. But with his achievements in the years before the games, he ensured that Germany had another quota place. In the last nomination round, in which the special cases were nominated, Kurschat was also nominated for the games and finished 33rd in his race.

In 2009 Wolfram Kurschat won the German championship title in cross country in St. Märgen ahead of Moritz Milatz and Jochen Käß. At the mountain bike marathon world championships 2009 in Graz (A) he finished 5th. In 2013 he became German mountain champion in road racing .
