Paul Martens (born October 26, 1983 in Rostock ) is a German racing cyclist .
Career
Paul Martens became German junior champion in the team pursuit on the track in 2001 . In 2005 he became German U23 time trial champion and won the overall ranking of the cycling Bundesliga . He then drove as a stagiaire for the T-Mobile team from August , but did not get a contract there for the coming season. However, he came under with the Dutch Professional Continental Team Skil-Shimano . He celebrated his first professional success in 2006 with a stage win on the Tour of Luxembourg . In the same year he also won the first edition of the Sparkassen Münsterland GIRO .
In 2008 Martens moved to the Dutch UCI ProTeam Rabobank . In addition to several stage wins in smaller tours and victories in one-day races, his greatest successes include overall victory in the Tour of Luxembourg in 2013.
Paul Martens attended the sports school in Frankfurt / Oder. From 2004 to 2006 he lived and trained in Freiburg im Breisgau. Martens has lived in Lanaken (Belgium) since 2007 .
