Jonas Rutsch (born January 24, 1998 in Erbach ) is a German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

Jonas Rutsch began cycling at the age of ten on a mountain bike , and he also rode cross-country races . In 2010 he won the overall ranking of the International Kids Tour in Berlin. In 2012 he became German U15 road racing champion .

For 2017, Rutsch received a contract with the Lotto-Kern Haus team ; the team with Rutsch, Joshua Huppertz , Julian Braun , Raphael Freienstein , Christopher Hatz and Joshua Stritzinger became German champions in the team time trial . At the Boucles de la Mayenne he finished tenth in 2018, at Eschborn-Frankfurt he finished second in the U23 race. In the same year he was German runner-up in the U23 road race and German U23 mountain champion .

At the International Tour of Rhodes 2019, Jonas Rutsch was sixth overall and won the junior ranking. His greatest success so far was his subsequent victory in the UCI Nations' Cup U23 race Kattekoers-Ieper , the U23 event of the spring classic Gent-Wevelgem . Also in 2019 he finished eighth in both the Around Cologne and the Luxembourg Tour .

In the summer of 2019, Rutsch signed a contract with the UCI WorldTeam EF Education First for the 2020 and 2021 seasons .
