Algarve tour
The Volta ao Algarve (German Algarve Tour ) is a Portuguese bike race.
It was first held in 1960 and has started annually since 1977. The tour is held in several stages and takes place in the Portuguese region of Algarve . The race has been part of the UCI Europe Tour since 2005 and is classified in category 2.1. The record winner is the Portuguese Belmiro Silva , who won the tour three times. The record stage winner is Cândido Barbosa with five stage wins. Alex Zülle and Tony Martin are the only drivers from German-speaking countries who have won so far. In 2017 it was classified in the 2nd HC category and since 2020 it has been part of the UCI ProSeries .
