Thomas Freienstein

Thomas Freienstein (born March 9, 1960 in Fulda ) is a former German racing cyclist and today's cycling trainer.

Athletic career

In 1979 Thomas Freienstein was third in the German championship in the street race of amateurs . In 1981 he won the amateur race around Frankfurt . In 1982 and 1984 he won the overall ranking of the Hessen Tour . Also in 1984 he was German amateur road racing champion. In 1984 and 1985 he won Rund um Düren .

Freienstein started in 1984 at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In the team time trial , he finished twelve with the German team ( Hartmut Bölts , Bernd Gröne and Michael Maue ); in the single road race he was 22. In the same year he started in the peace drive and finished 25th. He was a member of RC 07 Fulda , switched to PSV Cologne in 1979 and to RSC Hercules Nuremberg in 1982 .

Professional

Today (2011) Thomas Freienstein is the trainer of the mountain bike youngsters of the Association of German Cyclists and the regional association trainer of Rhineland-Palatinate . His son is the racing cyclist Raphael Freienstein .
