Stephan Gottschling

Stephan Gottschling (born February 10, 1968 in Magdeburg ) is a former German racing cyclist from the GDR .

Gottschling started for SC Cottbus during his career in the GDR . At the beginning of the 1990s he joined the RSG Nuremberg . He received his first appointment to the national team of the GDR in January 1988 for the tour of Cuba , which he finished in 7th place. In 1988 Stephan Gottschling was third in the overall ranking of the Tour of Austria and second in the Ytong Bohemia Tour . The following year he was third on the Tour of Cuba , in 1990 he was again third on the Tour of Austria . In 1991 he won Around Nuremberg Old Town .

In 1992 Gottschling became German champion in the amateur road race , winning the New Zealand Post Tour , the Tour of Egypt and the Tour of the Oder . He also won the South African Rappoert Tour in 1993 . In 1994 he became German mountain champion. In 1995 he finished second in the Lower Saxony Tour , which he won the following year. He competed four times in the International Peace Tour , in 1995 he was fourth overall and fifth in 1996 .

In 1997 Stephan Gottschling became a professional . In 1997 he finished second in the German Mountain Championship . In 2000 he drove for the Post Swiss team . In his active career he has participated in several world championships. In 2000 he retired from active cycling.
