Peter Kehl (cyclist)

Peter Kehl (born September 18, 1957 in Dortmund ) is a former German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

After the 1979 German road championship of amateur won (as a member of the association RuMC storm Hombruch), he was in the following year professional while cycling team Kondor and Kotter's racing team and remained there until 1981. With this team he played, among others, the Tour de Suisse 1981 , where he achieved his most important professional victory with victory in the prologue and the Giro d'Italia 1981 , in which he took a second stage rank. In the sprint of the pursuers he achieved his most important place in an important professional cycling race this year at the classic Milan – Sanremo with fifth place .

In 1982 he moved to the Swiss team Royal-Oliver Tex-Wrangler and again achieved a second stage position at the Giro d'Italia . Every time he started in the Giro, he dropped out of the race. A year later he drove in the Italian team dromedario . His most important place in a one-day race during this time was third place at Milan-Turin 1983. Up to 1984 he was successful in various criteria , so he was third in the overall ranking of the criteria series Coca Cola Trophy in 1983 . Kehl also started in six-day races .

Professional

After retiring from cycling, Peter Kehl became a journalist and editor of the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung .
