The 45th Tour de Suisse took place from June 10th to 19th, 1981. It was held in eleven stages and a prologue over a distance of 1,627.5 kilometers.

The overall winner was Beat Breu from Switzerland . The tour started in Wohlen with 103 drivers, 72 of whom crossed the finish line in Zurich on the last day .
