The 15th Tour de Suisse took place from June 15 to 23, 1951. It led over eight stages and a total distance of 1882 kilometers.

The tour started in Zurich with 79 drivers, 49 of whom made it to the finish - also in Zurich.

This tour is considered to be the "most beautiful and spectacular in history". On the first two days, the Swiss rivals Hugo Koblet and Ferdy Kübler stayed in sight. Kübler managed to gain a one-minute lead with two stage wins. On the sixth stage Koblet had multiple bad luck, which set him back by eight minutes. Shortly before the finish, Koblet attacked again, but unsuccessfully, and Kübler reached the open race track Zurich-Oerlikon with a lead of more than four minutes in cold and rain . Shortly before entering the cycling track, Koblet congratulated Ferdy Kübler: "You have won."

Kübler won the Tour de Suisse for the third time after 1942 and 1948 .
