The 10th Tour de Suisse took place from July 13th to 20th, 1946. It led over eight stages and a total distance of 1,844.9 kilometers.
The overall winner was the Italian Gino Bartali . He won the first stage from Zurich to Basel and kept the leadership jersey until the finish. Most recently he was 16:30 minutes ahead of the second, Sepp Wagner .
The tour started in Zurich with 60 drivers, 32 of whom made it to the finish - again in Zurich. The Swiss cycling idol Ferdy Kübler was not there because he suffered a double fractured skull in the sprint of the Zurich-Lausanne road race.
