Cilo-Aufina was a Swiss cycling team that existed from 1978 to 1986. From 1980, the main sponsors were Cilo , a bicycle brand, and Aufina, a banking institution.

history

The team was founded in 1978 under the leadership of René Franceschi. 1991 was the strongest year in which, in addition to the victories, a 4th place in the Tour of Lombardy , a 5th place in the overall ranking at the Giro d'Italia and a 9th place in the Tour of Flanders jumped out. In 1984 the Tour de Suisse was won again. At the end of the 1986 season, the team disbanded.

Rivalry within the team

The rivalry between Gottfried Schmutz and Beat Breu culminated in the Tour de Suisse in 1981 . Schmutz did not support Breu as desired, so Breu said: “De Gottfried isch für mi gstorbe.” And referred to him as “Godi Schmutz, dä Sauhund”, which became a constant phrase in Swiss cycling.

doping

In 1983 the Swiss Gottfried Schmutz tested positive at the Swiss Championships.
