Cilo (bicycle manufacturer)

Cilo (Cilo SA) was a Swiss bicycle manufacturer from Romanel-sur-Lausanne . He filed for bankruptcy in 2002.

Cilo presented bicycles produced in Romanel-sur-Lausanne in the canton of Vaud . "Cilo" is an acronym for "Cycles Jean Lausanne-Oron". The abbreviation of the name "Jean" was changed to "i" for pronunciation in French. “Lausanne-Oron” refers to a holding company in Lausanne and is related to the industrialization of the city at the turn of the 20th century.

The Swiss Hans Knecht rode a Cilo bike when he won the road world championships in 1946 . Other well-known Swiss drivers were Beat Breu , Daniel Gisiger and Tony Rominger .

In 2015 the "Cilo" brand was bought by the wholesale company Colag AG .
