Mauro Gianetti (born March 16, 1964 in Lugano ), (town of Medeglia ), is a former Swiss cyclist .

Career

Mauro Gianetti began his professional career in 1986. He was a specialist in one-day races and won Milan – Turin in 1990 and the World Cup races Amstel Gold Race and Liège – Bastogne – Liège in 1995 . One of his greatest successes was a second place in the 1996 road cycling world championship in Lugano behind Johan Museeuw .

He was a participant in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Melbourne . There he finished 53rd in the road race.

After his resignation in 2004 he became team manager of the UCI ProTeam Saunier Duval-Prodir .
