Silvano Contini

Silvano Contini (born January 15, 1958 in Leggiunova , Italy ) is a former Italian cyclist . He began his professional career in 1978 and ended it in 1990.

His debut in the professional drivers' camp was successful, winning the renowned Giro del Lazio in his first year . Contini was an all-rounder who was successful in both one-day races and tours . Outstanding successes were stage wins at the Giro d'Italia and winning the classic Liège – Bastogne – Liège .

At the Tour de France 1987 Contini was placed in last place in the 12th stage because he had tested positive for testosterone .
