Grand Prix Midi Libre
The Grand Prix Midi Libre (short: GP Midi Libre ) was a French cycling tour over several stages, sponsored by the French daily Midi Libre, which took place 54 times from 1949 to 2002 . Many high-class cyclists used the race in May to prepare for the Tour de France , the last Midi winner was Lance Armstrong . In 2003 it was discontinued due to economic problems of the main sponsor and the doping affair in cycling and replaced by the Tour du Languedoc-Roussillon , organized by Amaury Sport Organization (also organizer of the Tour de France). However, this was also discontinued after only one event. The only winner was Christophe Moreau .
