Eric Van Lancker (born April 30, 1961 in Oudenaarde ) is a former Belgian cyclist and current sports director .

Before he became a professional driver, he competed in the UCI Road World Championships for the first time in 1983 and was classified 40th in the amateur road race . Eric Van Lancker was a professional from 1984 to 1996. In 1984 he finished third in Paris-Brussels , in 1985 he won the British Milk Race . In 1988 he was second in each of the Tour of Belgium , in which he also won a stage and the points classification , and the Tour of Lombardy . In 1989 he won the Amstel Gold Race , 1990 Liège – Bastogne – Liège , 1991 the Wincanton Classic and 1994 Halle – Ingooigem .

Van Lancker was also able to record several stage wins in classics and tours . In 1985 he won a stage of the Tour of Denmark , in 1986 one each from Paris – Nice (on Mont Ventoux ), the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de Suisse . In 1988 he decided on a stage of the Tour of Cantabria and in 1989 one of the Tour of the Basque Country . He started seven times in the Tour de France , but without any significant success.

After finishing his career as a racing driver, Van Lancker became the sports director of various teams , since 2011 Garmin .
