Jacobus Johannes Henricus "Jacques" Hanegraaf (born December 14, 1960 in Rijsbergen ) is a sporting director in cycling and a former Dutch cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1980 Jacques Hanegraaf, a grandson of racing cyclist Marinus Valentijn , started at the Olympic Games in Moscow ; in the road race he finished 15th, and also with the team he ranked 15th

The following year, Hanegraaf joined the professionals . In his first year as such, he was Dutch road racing champion and again in 1985. In 1982 he won Paris – Brussels and in 1984 the Amstel Gold Race and the Eight van Chaam . Hanegraaf took part in the Tour de France three times , in 1984 he wore the yellow jersey for two days .

Professional

In 1992 Hanegraaf had to end his active cycling career after a serious training fall in which he broke several vertebrae. After a long convalescence he took over the PR work for the " Team Telekom ", for which he had recently also ridden, worked for the ASO , the organizer of the Tour de France , and imported racing bikes. From 2000 he was the sporting director of “ Farm Frites ”, from 2003 of “ Bianchi ”, the team around Jan Ullrich , and in 2009 of “ Cycle Collstrop ”. He then managed racing drivers, including Thomas Dekker and Stef Clement .

In 2016 the former racing driver Thomas Dekker published his autobiography Mijn Gevecht together with the journalist Thijs Zonneveld , in which he accused Hanegraaf of encouraging him to doping and of having introduced him to the Madrid “doping doctor” Eufemiano Fuentes . In addition, Hanegraaf admitted to him that he had experimented with drugs himself. Hanegraaf described the allegations as "total nonsense and pure slander". Dekker owed him a lot of money and tried to blackmail him, according to Hanegraaf, who sued Dekker for a payment of 90,000 euros. The court dismissed the lawsuit in March 2017, ruling that Zonneveld had thoroughly verified Dekker's information about Hanegraaf and that "the journalistic research, including the ramifications, had been sufficiently thorough".
