Thijs Zonneveld (born September 28, 1980 in Leiden ) is a Dutch sports journalist and former cyclist .

From 2003 to 2007 Thijs Zonneveld worked as a professional racing driver. In 2002/03 he rode in the Tegeltoko team , in 2004/05 for the French amateur team AVC Aix-en-Provence, in 2006 for Camargo Roper and in 2007 in the Marco Polo Cycling Team . His greatest success was 2004 when he won the Cinq jours des As de Provence .

Even before he started his professional career, Zonneveld studied international law in Amsterdam from 1998 to 2004 . After finishing his cycling career, he worked as a journalist. Since 2008 he has worked as a columnist for the Dutch website nu.nl. In 2008 he was voted Journalist of the Year . In August 2011, his jokingly intended proposal to pile up a mountain in the Netherlands so that athletes would have better training opportunities aroused a great deal of media attention.
