Thijs Roks (born November 30, 1930 in Sprundel , † February 7, 2007 in Wernhout ) was a Dutch cyclist .

Thijs Roks became a professional racing driver in 1951. The following year he was the first Dutchman to take part in the Giro d'Italia . Then Fausto Coppi's team offered him a contract; However, his father forbade him to move to Italy because of this. Three times he participated in the Tour de France in part, in 1953 he was one of the successful Dutch National Team to Wim van Est and Wout Wagtmans . On the first stage he had managed to break away, but it ended abruptly at a closed railroad barrier. In 1955 he became Dutch road champion.

After finishing his cycling career, Roks, who was nicknamed "De Beer von Sprundel" (German: The Bear of Sprundel ), opened a café in Wernhout. He fell ill with rheumatism and had to sit in a wheelchair; two of his sons - both by accidents - and his wife died before him.
