Piet Ladies (1959)

Piet Damen (born July 20, 1934 in Lieshout ) is a former Dutch cyclist and national champion in cycling .

After winning the peace run in 1958 , in which he wore the yellow jersey of the front runner on eight stages, he became a professional (from 1958 to 1967). As an amateur he started for the club Het Zuiden Eindhoven .

He took part in the great tours of the Tour de France , Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España and was also the Dutch national champion. He had his best round trip result on his first Tour de France in 1958 , which he finished in 11th place overall.

Professional

After the end of his career, he and his wife opened a bar in Helmond , which he had to give up after a few years. After that he was unemployed for a long time.
