Location of Yerseke in the municipality of Reimerswaal |
The village of Yerseke ( Yese in Zeeland ) belongs to the municipality of Reimerswaal in the Dutch province of Zeeland . It is located on the northeast coast of the Zuid-Beveland peninsula .
The town's train station is on the Zeeuwse Lijn , which runs from Roosendaal to Vlissingen.
The late Gothic Protestant Odulphus Church from the 15th century is located in the village .
Yerseke is known for its oyster and mussel farming . The local auction will sell the “Zeeuwse mussels” across Europe. The mussel beds in the Oosterschelde were an important argument for designing the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier as a movable weir.
