Location of Kruiningen in the municipality of Reimerswaal |
Kruiningen ( Zeeland Krunege ) is a village on Zuid-Beveland in the Dutch province of Zeeland and is located around five kilometers south of Yerseke . Kruiningen was an independent municipality until 1970, to which Hansweert also belonged; today it belongs to the municipality of Reimerswaal . In January 2017 the village had 4,390 inhabitants.
Until 2003, Kruiningen had a ferry dock for the Kruiningen-Perkpolder ferry service, which was discontinued after the Westerschelden tunnel was opened. A housing estate under the project name KruseVeer is planned around the now abandoned ferry port, which will include 250 apartments and single-family houses. Kruiningen has a train station on Zeeland's only railway line, the Zeeuwse Lijn , which runs from Roosendaal to Vlissingen .
