Roosendaal ( municipality in the Netherlands in the province of Noord-Brabant . It has a total area of about 107.2 km² and on January 31, 2019, 77,095 inhabitants lived here. In addition to the town of the same name, the municipality includes the villages of Nispen, Wouw and a few smaller towns.

Roosendaal is located in the west of the province of Noord-Brabant on the border with Belgium between Bergen op Zoom and Breda on the railway and the Rotterdam - Antwerp motorway . Roosendaal is an important border station. Because of the border location, many transport companies have their headquarters in the municipality. But there are many other, especially smaller, industrial and commercial enterprises.
history
The village of Roosendaal was built around a chapel in the 13th century. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the peat trade was important. Roosendaal was declared a city in 1809 by King Louis Bonaparte . When the Belgian railways opened the Antwerp-Roosendaal- Breda line in 1854 , the city's heyday began.
Attractions
Roosendaal's town hall dates from the 16th century. The city museum is located in "Tongerlohuys" (1762).
The village of Wouw has a famous windmill.
South of Roosendaal is a forest (Wouwse Plantage) with a historic center.

The Roosendaalse Lijst that could win all the elections in Roosendaal since its renaming in 2010, sat well in the election on 21 March 2018 with a voting share of 22.28 percent through. In the 2018–2022 legislative period there is a coalition of the CDA , GroenLinks , Roosendaalse Lijst and VVD .

Sports
The football club RBC Roosendaal was still playing in the Eredivisie in 2006 , but was relegated without a chance. After the club had to file for bankruptcy in 2011, there was a restart in the 5th amateur league in 2012. At the end of the season, the club reached first place in the table with a large lead.
