Bladel ( municipality in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant .
) is aDistricts and settlement areas
Bladel, Casteren, Dalem, Hapert, Hoogeloon and Netersel.
history
In the past, the villages around Bladel were isolated. It was not until 1897 that the railway connection Eindhoven - Reusel ensured that the area's seclusion came to an end and that industrial companies also settled here. The cigar industry in particular settled here. Many small factories sprang up, some of which were closed again over the decades.
In 1959, Bladel was identified as a development focus. This made enough money available to attract new companies.
All the places that make up the current municipality of Bladel have their own historical characteristics. Bladel has been written in this form since 1280, before it was written as Pladella, Bladella and also Bladele. The oldest mention of the name comes from the year 922.
Hapert is mentioned for the first time in 710 under the name Heopardum.
In Hoogeloon there is a tower from the Middle Ages (approx. 1400) with a bell from 1435. Remnants from Roman times were also found in the site during excavations in 1827. The ending -loon points to Germanic Lauhun , the hill has meant.
Casteren, also called Kerk-Casteren and Castelre, is derived from the Latin Castra. Objects from Roman times were also found here.
Netersel was mentioned in 1219, but later the place was also called Nederseel and Nethershem.
